3 steps to your
urban summer wedding #1

Do’s – Mood Board – Colour concept

Urban summer wedding – show and set trends

In this first blog post “3 steps to your urban summer wedding summer wedding #1” is all about the do’s for your wedding, inspiration through a mood board, as well as ideas based on a colour concept. The blog post is divided into three posts, #2 and #3 will follow in a separate post.

Urban & industrial, chic and bright. This trend can already be found in many places such as in interior design or fashion. Although the modern trend has already arrived in the wedding industry , it is not yet so widespread.

Do you also love the noise of the big city and feel at home there? do you like the bright neon lights of adverts and do you like concrete-grey colours and industrial buildings? Then you ‘ve come to the right place and the urban and industrial wedding style, chic and bright and a city wedding will suit you perfectly.
There are many possibilities and ideas on how to realise this modern trend for a wedding and I’ll show you these now.

But first, what does this trend actually mean and how is this style defined?

The Urban-Industrial style is all about, giving the thoughtfully designed houses and buildings a raw, unfinished look. It’ s always about style as well as function. Urban is industrial interior design and my blog post is all about this modern trend. Industrial design is used in loft flats, modern homes and commercial spaces around the world and showcases neutral colour tones, utility items and wood and metal surfaces.

Do’s for the urban and industrial wedding style:

  • Usereduced decoration
  • Grey colours (concrete) form the basis and do not hide them
  • Geometric shapes and clear lines (e.g. for decoration)
  • Contrast of dark and light
  • Set highlights , e.g. with illuminated letters, coloured or metallic
  • No glitter, frills or “bells and whistles”
  • Industrial buildings, brickworks, exposed concrete, factories and brick buildings are suitable for
  • Uselots of greenery and plants, use fewer flowers

Mood board / urban wedding inspiration

For anyone who doesn’t know what a mood board is, I’ll explain briefly. As the name suggests, a mood board is used to capture and collate graphics, ideas, colour combinations and inspirations on a board . This can then be used to create the concept for the decoration and the wedding. But it also serves to, to havea common thread throughout the wedding, as the wedding is based on the ideas and inspiration from the mood board. It isimportant to know that only pictures are shown on the mood board, which are ultimately really realisable and realistic or an alternative is possible.

So if you don’t yet have a clear idea of what your wedding should look like, then I advise you to create a wedding mood board. If you have a wedding planner, he will create this based on your wishes and ideas. You can use this as a guide and inspiration for all the wedding preparations. You can easily create this in a Word or PowerPoint document or physically on a white canvas or physically on a white canvas or as a collage on paper. The important thing is that a certain mood or emotion is triggered. The mood board is , so to speak, the template for your final design and can serve as a template when planning your wedding. It will also show and help you, whether you as a couple have the same vision for your wedding.

My mood board is an example of what an urban summer wedding could look like.

Colour concept

However, anyone who thinks that the urban wedding style consists of grey, monotonous and cool colours is mistaken. Of course, most urban and industrial weddings are characterised are subject toa rather cool and hard colour concept. But for an urban summer wedding in particular, colours may very well come into play.

With the flowers or the decoration certain eye-catchers should be incorporated, such as black or dark-coloured candles or napkins in the decoration decoration or a strong colour in the bridal bouquet. However, this colour should then be consistent throughout the entire decoration and colour concept. Metallic elements such as gold, rose gold, silver or copper also suit the urban wedding style, rose gold, silver or copper. Another eye-catching feature is light installations such as illuminated letters, retro light bulbs or garlands of lights.

For your urban summer wedding , I have put together four stylish yet colourful colour concepts, which should serve as your inspiration. The 3 colours per colour concept can be combined well together and form a good basis, which you can orientate yourself for the decoration and the flowers.

Examples:

Colour concept 1: Light grey, dark grey and fir greenColour concept 2: Navy blue, light grey and golden yellowColour concept 3: Red, blue-grey and beigeColour concept 4: Light grey, golden yellow and orange

3 steps to your
urban summer wedding #2

Location – decoration -flowers – ideas Sommer for drinks or summer cocktails

Three steps to your perfect urban summer wedding. The first article was about the do’s for your wedding, inspiration from a mood board and the colour scheme. This article is all about important details for an urban wedding location, decoration, flowers and ideas for drinks or summer cocktails.

Important details for an urban wedding location

The “urban chic” furnishing style usually appears cool but modern. Colours and materials are skilfully used, which are otherwise only known from building sites. Unplastered brick walls, exposed concrete and unpolished wooden floors take centre stage and lend the modern and the modern and extravagant style its own character.

More and more weddings are based on this style and are organising their wedding accordingly. Because getting married in an “urban/industrial chic”style is very modern.

The location for an urban summer wedding should be a mix between city and chic. What does that mean? More and more weddings are taking up the uncomplicated but stylish concept. The best thing: The term “modern wedding” takes on a whole new meaning with the urban chic idea. Buildings such as industrial buildings, brickworks, exposed concrete, factories or brick buildings are particularly suitable. The grey colours or the red bricks form the basis and these must/should not be hidden under any circumstances.

Decoration

The geometric shapes provide a good contrast to the green, colourful and exotic flowers and create a creative a creative mix of modern elegance and summer feeling. To create even more variety in the table decorations, you can use dark stick candles, black napkins and gold accents, for example. For a summer wedding or if you prefer a more colourful look, use coloured candles or lighter napkins.

In urban style, less is more. That’s why you tend to use less decoration, elements and incorporate certain eye-catchers. Elements for table decorations, that go upwards also fit very well , such as a tall metal for example a high metal stand or candlestick.

Flowers

The urban wedding style is all about uselots of plants and greenery and fewer flowers. Eucalyptus, ferns, monstera or olive branches are particularly suitable.

Of course you can also use flowers. But I would then use flowers in lighter colours such as white or cream. For a summer wedding , I would choose a stronger colour (eye-catcher) , that stands out from the bouquet, or you could design the whole bouquet with stronger summer colours.

Whilst we ‘ re on the subject of flowers, a lovely floral wreath can go well with bridal styling and gives the whole look a summery feel. I would also make sure, that the flowers are in the same colour as the bridal bouquet or match the overall concept and above all the dress.

Ideas for drinks or summer cocktails

In hot summer temperatures , every guest will be will be gratefulfor a cool and refreshing drink. As soon as the guests arrive at the venue, a champagne reception or cocktail bar is the first thing your guests will see, smell and experience, your guests will see, smell and experience. My tip: don’t skimp on the cocktail reception. So don’t miss out on the colourful summer cocktails freshly mixed with fruit.

Ideas for cocktails:

  • Original ice cubes
  • “Poptails” (cocktails on a stick)
  • Fruits & Co (mint mojito, pink raspberry champagne, fruit punch)
  • Plants in the drink (e.g. lavender, rosemary, hibiscus flowers)
  • Vibrant colours are absolute eye-catchers
  • Personalised champagne cans or bottles

3 steps to your
urban summer wedding #3

Bridal couple styling

In the third and final article of “3 steps to your urban summer wedding summer wedding”, everything now finally revolves around the bridal couple styling for him and her. An important point, if not the most important, which you should not forget under any circumstances. Look forward to a modern and alternative bridal styling and a matching, urban styling for the groom.

Wedding dresses for the urban wedding style

A light, airy summer wedding dress goes very well with an urban summer wedding. What you should definitely pay attention to when choosing a dress is, that it is not too over the top. Lots of tulle or glitter don’t suit the urban wedding style. The dress is rather simple, but by no means boring and still elegant and unique. Dresses with thin straps, back neckline or long sleeves fit very well and are often seen in urban wedding dress styling . styling and are ideal for a summer wedding. What always works are style breaks. Sounds worse than it is, I know. But a leatheror denim jacket combined with a light dress or trainers instead of high heels go well with the urban style.

It doesn’t always have to be a classic wedding dress as you would imagine. As in this example in the picture, the wedding dress consists of two parts; a lace body and a simple skirt. But what ‘s even better, this look can be quickly and easily transformed into a second look. Instead of the skirt, put on a pair of light and elegant trousers. So you have 2 wedding looks in one. I’ ll show you this in a moment.

Trousers instead of wedding dress

As mentioned above , you can conjure up two different looks from this wedding look. The wedding dress consists of two parts. A lace body and a simple skirt. In the second look, the skirt is replaced by light and airy trousers. This gives you the opportunity to wear two different looks at the same wedding.

For the wedding ceremony, for example, you can wear the lace body with the skirt and then wear the trousers for the party in the evening.

This trend can also be seen more and more in bridal fashion shops or fashion shows, as brides are opting for a jumpsuit or a two-piece with trousers. It ‘s modern and an alternative to the classic wedding dress and that’ s exactly what characterises the urban wedding style. Being open to new things and wearing something that not every bride wears.

Modern / alternative bridal styling for urban weddings

Hair

There are different looks that go well with urban hair styling. Some like it open, others prefer it closed. In my opinion , both looks work very well for an urban summer wedding. For the wedding ceremony, for example , a loose messy bunbun with a few strands falling out at the front works very well. It looks done up, but not too severe or too well behaved. A little detail, like the hair jewellery in the picture give the look even more elegance, but in no way makes the look look kitschy.   An open look is perfect for the party. Straight or wavy hair that falls lightly over the bride ‘s shoulders, as if a summer breeze had just blown through her hair look beautiful. You can also combine details such as a brooch or a flower wreath with this look. Especially for an urban summer wedding , a lovely floral wreath looks very casual and modern looks very casual and modern and is a real eye-catcher.

Jewellery

Less is more in urban wedding style. We’ ve already heard this about the decorations and flowers. This also applies to jewellery. More discreet and rather less jewellery, which is all the more effective. A fine necklace with matching earrings (small studs or hanging earrings) and a bracelet will suffice. What also counts as jewellery is, for example, a hair brooch as shown in the picture with the hairstyling or another accessory for the hair. You can find more inspiration on my Pinterest board Wedding jewellery.

Groom styling in urban wedding style

Now let’s move on to the groom’s styling. When choosing the perfect suit for an urban summer wedding summer wedding, the first thing I would pay attention to is the materials. In summer, temperatures can easily rise above 30 degrees. This is when air-permeable and breathable fabrics made from yarns, linen, silk, mohair wool or cotton are particularly suitable.   There is no ruleas to which colour is the right one for the suit. For a summer wedding , however, I would choose a lighter colour such as blue, beige or grey. Checked or patterned suits also go well with the urban wedding style. What I personally would definitely leave out is the waistcoat. This is less suited to the urban style and is almost too much, especially for a summer wedding.

Accessories

You can really spice up the look with accessories. That’s why I would go for a coloured or patterned bow tie or tie. It is important to make sure that it matches the suit and the overall look and is not too much. Braces are another suitable accessory for the groom. This creates a modern look and looks super casual without a jacket, especially in summer.   When choosing the colour of the shoes , I would match them to the suit. Brown or black shoes always go well. Coloured or patterned socks make for an eye-catching look and can be used deliberately and appropriately. For more inspiration , I have my own Pinterest board for urban groom styling.
