Urban summer wedding – show and set trends
In this first blog post “3 steps to your urban summer wedding summer wedding #1” is all about the do’s for your wedding, inspiration through a mood board, as well as ideas based on a colour concept. The blog post is divided into three posts, #2 and #3 will follow in a separate post.
Urban & industrial, chic and bright. This trend can already be found in many places such as in interior design or fashion. Although the modern trend has already arrived in the wedding industry , it is not yet so widespread.
Do you also love the noise of the big city and feel at home there? do you like the bright neon lights of adverts and do you like concrete-grey colours and industrial buildings? Then you ‘ve come to the right place and the urban and industrial wedding style, chic and bright and a city wedding will suit you perfectly.
There are many possibilities and ideas on how to realise this modern trend for a wedding and I’ll show you these now.
But first, what does this trend actually mean and how is this style defined?
The Urban-Industrial style is all about, giving the thoughtfully designed houses and buildings a raw, unfinished look. It’ s always about style as well as function. Urban is industrial interior design and my blog post is all about this modern trend. Industrial design is used in loft flats, modern homes and commercial spaces around the world and showcases neutral colour tones, utility items and wood and metal surfaces.
Do’s for the urban and industrial wedding style:
- Usereduced decoration
- Grey colours (concrete) form the basis and do not hide them
- Geometric shapes and clear lines (e.g. for decoration)
- Contrast of dark and light
- Set highlights , e.g. with illuminated letters, coloured or metallic
- No glitter, frills or “bells and whistles”
- Industrial buildings, brickworks, exposed concrete, factories and brick buildings are suitable for
- Uselots of greenery and plants, use fewer flowers
Mood board / urban wedding inspiration
For anyone who doesn’t know what a mood board is, I’ll explain briefly. As the name suggests, a mood board is used to capture and collate graphics, ideas, colour combinations and inspirations on a board . This can then be used to create the concept for the decoration and the wedding. But it also serves to, to havea common thread throughout the wedding, as the wedding is based on the ideas and inspiration from the mood board. It isimportant to know that only pictures are shown on the mood board, which are ultimately really realisable and realistic or an alternative is possible.
So if you don’t yet have a clear idea of what your wedding should look like, then I advise you to create a wedding mood board. If you have a wedding planner, he will create this based on your wishes and ideas. You can use this as a guide and inspiration for all the wedding preparations. You can easily create this in a Word or PowerPoint document or physically on a white canvas or physically on a white canvas or as a collage on paper. The important thing is that a certain mood or emotion is triggered. The mood board is , so to speak, the template for your final design and can serve as a template when planning your wedding. It will also show and help you, whether you as a couple have the same vision for your wedding.
My mood board is an example of what an urban summer wedding could look like.
Colour concept
However, anyone who thinks that the urban wedding style consists of grey, monotonous and cool colours is mistaken. Of course, most urban and industrial weddings are characterised are subject toa rather cool and hard colour concept. But for an urban summer wedding in particular, colours may very well come into play.
With the flowers or the decoration certain eye-catchers should be incorporated, such as black or dark-coloured candles or napkins in the decoration decoration or a strong colour in the bridal bouquet. However, this colour should then be consistent throughout the entire decoration and colour concept. Metallic elements such as gold, rose gold, silver or copper also suit the urban wedding style, rose gold, silver or copper. Another eye-catching feature is light installations such as illuminated letters, retro light bulbs or garlands of lights.
For your urban summer wedding , I have put together four stylish yet colourful colour concepts, which should serve as your inspiration. The 3 colours per colour concept can be combined well together and form a good basis, which you can orientate yourself for the decoration and the flowers.
Examples:
Colour concept 1: Light grey, dark grey and fir greenColour concept 2: Navy blue, light grey and golden yellowColour concept 3: Red, blue-grey and beigeColour concept 4: Light grey, golden yellow and orange
The next article , and therefore the second step towards realisation of your urban summer wedding is all about the location, decoration, flowers and ideas for drinks or summer cocktails.
